Pure pagan black metal with a touch of folkish melancholy from Russia. Could be described as a bit more straight forwarded version of latest Temnozor and Nokturnal Mortum albums and easily on par with them, though less folk and more towards black metal. This new album is an emotional shivering masterpiece that contains an atmosphere that only these ancient lands of Rus' seem to harbour. I discovered this completely independent project from the Russian country side with their debut EP and album which highly impressed me. However, this new album is on a completely new level. Songs performed with fierce spirit and longing for the rural country. Here is captivating melancholy in the melodies and acoustic passages, here shows immense pride in the clean vocals, here rises steadfast strength in the epic song structures and build ups. An absolute must-have for fans of the mentioned bands, as well as bands like Drudkh, Walknut and Heimdalls Wacht. Support to this honest project from rural lands!

Blackbraid quickly followed up their 2022 debut in 2023 with more native folk infused furious black metal. This is by no means a sophomore slump as it is equally excellent, methodical, melodical, and approachable as the first record. 9/10

Russian Atmospheric Black Metal / Dark Ambient. This is the latest Elderwind & my first sadly because I am always later than late... But this also means I get to go through the entire discography... :) Such fantastic contrasts of desperation interspersed with sweet music passages. Highly addictive & highly recommended!!!
